Crayfish Competition 2026

Week Long Cray Competition!!
Dates: 6th July – 12th July

  • 1st pair prize: $300 cash provided by MG Kailis
  • 2nd pair prize: $200 cash provided by MG Kailis
  • Lucky draw:
    2x $100 Dive Cave vouchers
    1x Jolly Roger dive mask

All participants will need to use our Sign On/Off app for sign on and off each day.
Please add your estimated time of return when signing on for your dive. If you have not signed off by this time, we will contact you via mobile. If no answer, your emergency contact will be called.

Weigh in, BBQ and Presentation:
12th July @ 3:00pm

Additional weigh in opportunity:
9th July @ 5:30-6:00pm

Rules:

  • All participants must be current Sunshine Coast Skindivers member – Join Here
  • All participants will dive in pairs with safety equipment as per A section and B section rules
  • All participants will have the opportunity to weigh 2 crayfish throughout the competition (either Thursday or Sunday). This means you can weigh in 2 crayfish for your pair on Thursday as well as Sunday (total of 4 crays weighed). Only the largest cray from each diver in the pair will count. Example: Rhys weighs in on Thursday with the largest cray weighing 1.2kg, then weighs in on Sunday with the largest cray weighing 1.4kg – the larger of the 2 will be picked (1.4kg).
  • Winner will be the pair with the heaviest combined crayfish weight (1 cray per diver)
  • Lucky draw prize winners must be present at the Sunday weigh in

Questions & Answers

Can I shore-dive?

Yep, feel free to dive any way you would like. Just make sure to take your dive partner and safety equipment, and sign on and off.

Can I free my crays?

Yes absolutely – you can freeze and weigh them later
